Follow this Step-By-Step Guide on how to obtain YOUR Firearm Licence.

Step 1:
Proficiency Training

Determine your future firearm requirements.
Pay and Register for the correct merit standards.
Study and Complete the Open Book Assignment.
Book and attend Theoretical class session & Closed Book Exam.
Once marked and Passed, you register to complete the practical Range Shooting session.
The results are logged with the National Body (PTFC).
Your certificates are printed.
This process is regulated and will follow due process and scrutiny.

Step 2:
Competency

Once you have completed your proficiency training, you can apply for your Competency Certificate from the SAPS closest to your home. The Competency Certificate shows that you are fit and able to possess a firearm.

Step 3:
Firearm License

Once your Competency Certificate has been issued, you may apply for your Firearm License at SAPS. When applying for your Firearm Licence, you will need a detailed motivation for wanting/needing to own a firearm. Our staff will be able to assist with the drafting of your motivation.
